Sri Lanka, Dec. 27 -- The Officer-in-Charge of the Padiyathalawa Police station has been suspended following allegations that seized teak logs were illegally diverted to a private timber mill instead of being produced before court.
The suspension of Inspector Rohan Gunasena was ordered by the Inspector General of Police (IGP) as part of an ongoing disciplinary inquiry.
The move follows a preliminary investigation launched under the direction of the Senior Deputy Inspector General for the Eastern Province, Varuna Jayasundara.
According to reports, the case involves a stock of teak logs previously confiscated during a police raid in the Ampara district.
