Sri Lanka, Aug. 15 -- The Central Bank of Sri Lanka says that paddy and coconut production rose in June 2025. However, the production of tea, fish, and rubber fell due to unfavourable weather conditions.

The Central Bank predicts that paddy production for the 2025 Yala season will be 2.19 million metric tons, which is a 10.8% increase compared to last year. Meanwhile, coconut production increased by 18.3% year-on-year in June and has been recovering since February.

However, tea production decreased by 6.3% in June due to adverse weather. Fish production also dropped by 20.6% in June, and provisional data from the Rubber Development Department shows a decline in rubber production. The Central Bank added that world market prices for rubbe...
