Sri Lanka, Dec. 14 -- The government's fundraising drive for citizens affected by the recent disaster has now amassed over Rs. 3.421 million (Over USD 11 million), according to the Secretary to the Ministry of Finance, Dr. Harshana Suriyapperuma.

Dr. Suriyapperuma stated that the funds poured in from over 40 countries, from both individuals and businesses.

The largest portion of the funds was received via the United States of America.

Significant contributions also flowed in from numerous other countries, including Australia, the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, the Maldives, Saudi Arabia, France, Korea, and the United Arab Emirates.
