Sri Lanka, May 29 -- The Police Anti-Narcotics Bureau reports that the total weight of the narcotics seized from two multi-day fishing vessels taken into naval custody is 779 kilograms and 21 grams.

The two vessels and the 11 individuals on board were brought to the Dikowita Fisheries Harbour on May 28, and subsequently handed over to the Bureau.

275 kilograms and 59 grams of heroin were found packed in sacks, while the 'Ice' (crystal methamphetamine) consignment weighed 503 kilograms and 61 grams.

A senior police official stated that the estimated street value of the seized drugs exceeds Rs. 1.4 billion.
