Sri Lanka, Jan. 20 -- A total of 451,770 vehicles have been imported to Sri Lanka since the government resumed vehicle import approvals in February 2025.
This information was disclosed in Parliament today (20) by the Deputy Minister of Economic Development, Nishantha Jayaweera.
The breakdown of the imported fleet includes 115,000 motor cars, 313,999 motorcycles, and 22,407 three-wheelers.
The figures were presented in response to a query raised by Rohitha Abeygunawardena, the Kalutara District MP for the New Democratic Alliance.
The Deputy Minister highlighted that the revenue generated from these imports has significantly exceeded initial projections.
