Sri Lanka, Nov. 2 -- Deputy Minister of Defence, Major General Aruna Jayasekara, announced that the fishing vessel seized by the Navy was carrying over 350 kilogrammes of 'Ice' (crystal methamphetamine) and Heroin, with an estimated value of approximately 5 billion rupees.
The multi-day fishing vessel, brought ashore to the Dikowita Harbour this morning, was confirmed to be carrying a significant haul of 'Ice' and Heroin.
The vessel was taken into naval custody in the deep sea west of the island on suspicion of transporting narcotics. The operation was launched based on intelligence received regarding a locally owned multi-day fishing vessel.
