Sri Lanka, Dec. 24 -- More than 21 kgs of heroin were discovered aboard the local multi-day fishing vessel brought into the Dikowita fisheries harbour.

The Navy stated that the quantity of 'ICE', found on the boat is currently being calculated.

Eleven sacks containing heroin and 'ICE' were confirmed by the Police Narcotic Bureau following a search of the vessel.

The Navy intercepted the trawler in the deep sea south of Sri Lanka under suspicion of drug trafficking and escorted the boat, along with five suspects to Dikowita this morning (24) for further investigation.

Initial findings reveal that the vessel originally departed for fishing activities from Gandara.
