Sri Lanka, Jan. 10 -- A rise in dengue cases currently impacts the country, with 2,420 cases reported nationwide during the first nine days of January.
Acting Director of the National Dengue Control Unit, Kapila Kannangara, noted that the Western Province remains the hardest-hit region.
Statistics show that the Western Province accounts for 1,317 of these cases.
Other regional breakdowns include 361 cases in the Southern Province, 192 in the Central Province, and 165 in Sabaragamuwa.
Within the Western Province, the Colombo District recorded the highest concentration with 625 patients, including 165 within the Colombo Municipal Council limits.
Additional high-risk areas include Gampaha with 393 cases and Kalutara with 128.
