Sri Lanka, May 3 -- Sri Lanka welcomed 174,608 tourists in April, marking a substantial increase of 26,000 compared to the same period last year.

India continues to be the leading source of tourism for the island nation, with 38,744 Indian visitors arriving in April. The total number of tourist arrivals for the first four months of this year has reached 896,884. Out of that number, the largest groups originated from India, with 157,059 arrivals, followed by Russia with 107,093, and the United Kingdom with 87,053 tourists.
