Sri Lanka, Aug. 6 -- A no-confidence motion against Deputy Minister of Defence, Major General (Rtd) Aruna Jayasekara, has received over 50 signatures from opposition parties.
According to the General Secretary of the Samagi Jana Balawegaya, MP Ranjith Madduma Bandara, the process of gathering signatures began today (6).
The opposition says that Jayasekara's continued work as Deputy Minister of Defence is an obstacle to the investigations into the Easter Sunday attacks.
The decision to bring the motion was made unanimously during a discussion of opposition political parties led by the Leader of the Opposition, Sajith Premadasa, at the Parliament complex today.
