Sri Lanka, Sept. 1 -- A special meeting of the general secretaries of opposition political parties is scheduled to be held today (1) at 1:00 PM at the Opposition Leader's Office in Colombo.

Responding to an inquiry on the matter, Ranjith Madduma Bandara, General Secretary of the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) and a Member of Parliament, said that the secretaries were called to discuss a course of action against the government's repressive programme.

He added that the discussions will focus on the progress of recent talks among the opposition and on how the parties can work together to jointly face the government's repressive programme in several phases.
