Sri Lanka, May 14 -- Opposition political parties have reached an agreement to establish control in local government bodies where the National People's Power (NPP) lacks a majority.

This agreement was reached during discussions held in Colombo today (14th).

The meeting, chaired by former President Ranil Wickremesinghe, took place at his office in Flower Road, Colombo.

It was decided to hold further discussions with all groups opposing the JVP to establish control and work jointly.
