Sri Lanka, May 23 -- Members of Parliament representing the opposition have submitted a letter to Speaker Dr. Jagath Wickramarathne, requesting an investigation into the conduct of the Leader of the House, Bimal Ratnayake.

The letter refers to an incident on May 20, where MP Dayasiri Jayasekara had sought the Speaker's permission to address Parliament under Standing Order 92 (2)a, regarding the security of MPs.

The opposition's letter states that following this, MP Kaushalya Ariyaratne made a statement challenging the Speaker's granted permission and the Standing Order itself, which clearly questioned the Speaker's discretion.
