Srilanka, Nov. 10 -- Leader of the Opposition Sajith Premadasa has strongly criticised the 2026 Budget presented by the President, labelling it not as a budget, but as a "bag of bald-faced lies".

Speaking at the opening of the Samagi Jana Balawegaya's (SJB) main party office in Horana, the Opposition Leader stated that there is no coherence whatsoever between the promises made to the public and the proposals contained within the budget. Premadasa urged the public to examine whether the President's second budget implements the policies promised under his election slogan, "A Thriving Nation, A Beautiful Life"

He pointed out that the budget proposals lack a plan, vision, or framework to address the 40%-50% poverty rate in the country.
