SriLanka, Nov. 6 -- The operation to herd wild elephants roaming around several villages in the Hambantota District toward the proposed Hambantota Elephant Management Reserve has resumed today (6).
The operation was temporarily paused yesterday due to the Poya holiday.
The immediate goal is to safely move the elephants into the Mudunagala Reserve.
On Tuesday, the operation planned to drive the elephants from near the Ridiyagama Safari Park towards Mudunagala.
However, by the last morning, the elephants had returned to the Ridiyagama Safari Park vicinity.
The Sri Lanka Air Force drone team is monitoring the elephants' movement.
