Srilanka, Dec. 7 -- India has significantly escalated its technical support to Sri Lanka, moving firmly into the rebuilding phase following Cyclone Ditwah. The ninth Indian Air Force (IAF) C-17 aircraft landed yesterday (6), bringing essential heavy equipment and bridge components needed to restore vital connectivity.
The latest IAF C-17 aircraft delivered a massive 65 tonnes of load, including 55 tonnes of Bailey Bridge units, corresponding to 110 feet of bridge length, along with an excavator and other earth-moving equipment.
This consignment, alongside the previously airlifted supplies, brings the total Bailey Bridge units provided to 185 tonnes, delivered with 44 Indian Army engineers.
