Sri Lanka, Aug. 27 -- Deputy Minister of Ports and Civil Aviation Janitha Ruwan Kodithuwakku announced that plans are underway to introduce an online system for issuing medical certificates required to obtain a driver's license. The decision was made in response to numerous irregularities reported at the National Transport Medical Institute in Nugegoda, which currently issues printed medical certificates.

Deputy Minister Kodithuwakku stated that the current method "lacks transparency and has resulted in irregularities." The new online system is intended to minimise such issues while making the process more convenient for applicants.
