Sri Lanka, April 20 -- American astronaut Dan Pettit, the world's oldest astronaut, returned to Earth from a mission today (20), on his 70th birthday.

Pettit has accumulated an impressive 590 days in space across his four space missions.

Born in 1955, he has spent a total of 220 days aboard the International Space Station and orbited the Earth over 3,500 times, according to foreign media reports.
