Sri Lanka, Dec. 21 -- A police officer is currently hospitalised following a violent confrontation with Shantha Pathma Kumara, a Ratnapura District MP representing the National People's Power (NPP).
The officer is undergoing treatment at the Embilipitiya Base Hospital after the alleged assault.
The officer claims the dispute stems from a police raid on a cannabis plantation located on land allegedly belonging to the MP's father-in-law.
According to the officer, the MP intercepted him near a shop while he was returning home after duty.
The MP reportedly confronted him, saying, "I need to meet you," to which the officer replied that they could meet if necessary.
