Sri Lanka, June 14 -- Today (13) saw the formation of several local government authorities where no single party secured an outright majority in the recent elections.
The Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) secured the chairmanship of the Kabithigollewa Pradeshiya Sabha, which has 18 members.
While the National People's Power (NPP) won 7 seats, the SJB and other parties collectively obtained 11.
In today's chairmanship vote, the SJB candidate won with 10 votes, against the NPP's 8 votes, which included the independent member's vote.
Three Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) members and one from the Podujana Eksath Peramuna voted for the SJB chairman.
The Vice Chairman was elected from the SLPP.
