Sri Lanka, Feb. 12 -- The Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) has announced that there will be no power cuts today in observance of the Navam Full Moon Poya Day.
However, all three generators at the Norochcholai Power Plant will remain inactive until Friday, and a decision on possible power cuts from tomorrow will be announced this afternoon.
The country experienced an island-wide power outage on Sunday morning, with Energy Minister Kumara Jayakody stating that it was caused by a monkey hitting a transformer at the Panadura Electricity Substation. This incident also led to the shutdown of all three generators at the Lakvijaya Coal Power Plant in Norochcholai, removing 900 megawatts from the national grid.
