Sri Lanka, Feb. 19 -- Excise Commissioner General U.L. Udaya Kumara Perera has confirmed that there will be no further increase in liquor prices following the hike on January 7.

Speaking at a media briefing in Colombo yesterday (17), he emphasized that the price adjustment has already been submitted for parliamentary approval and no additional hikes are planned.

Addressing the recent salary increase for public servants, he expressed confidence that it would enhance employee motivation and contribute to a more effective public service.

He also reiterated the government's commitment to cracking down on illegal liquor while boosting state revenue through legal liquor and tobacco sales.
