Sri Lanka, Sept. 15 -- The International Federation of Journalists has stated that there can be no democracy without media freedom.
In a statement released for International Day of Democracy, the organisation noted that more than 70 journalists have been killed worldwide in 2025.
The federation warned that silencing the media brings an end to the existence of democracy.
It called on people to join its efforts to protect journalism, fight censorship, and defend the press.
