Sri Lanka, July 3 -- Nine passengers were injured today (3) when a Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) bus travelling from Wattegama to Kandy via Kudugala overturned.

Police stated that eight of the injured have been admitted to Wattegama Hospital, while one person was taken to Theldeniya Hospital.

The accident occurred in the Araliya Uyana area on the Kudugala road, where the bus veered off the road and overturned.

Approximately 25 passengers were on board the bus at the time of the incident.

According to police, the driver lost control of the vehicle when the door near his seat unexpectedly opened and he attempted to grab it.

Reports indicate that the injuries sustained by the passengers are not serious.
