Sri Lanka, Oct. 19 -- The Railway Department has cancelled two night mail trains following the train derailment that occurred this afternoon (October 19) near the Ihala Kotte railway station.

The Department stated that the night mail train scheduled to run from Colombo Fort to Badulla, and the night mail train scheduled from Badulla to Colombo Fort, have both been cancelled.

Work is currently underway to restore the Kandy-Colombo Intercity Express train, which derailed at Ihala Kotte.

Due to this incident, railway traffic on the entire Up-Country line continues to be disrupted.
