Srilanka, Dec. 1 -- Colombo Chief Magistrate, Asanga S. Bodaragama, today (26) ordered a Nigerian national allegedly arrested over a large-scale online scam to be remanded until December 12.
The scam allegedly involves defrauding individuals of over Rs.11.5 million by promising to deliver gift parcels via the internet.
In connection with the same incident, another Nigerian national and three Sri Lankan individuals were released on bail.
Investigating officers informed the court that the suspect was operating this racket from within Sri Lanka in collaboration with other Nigerian nationals, and that the operation was being orchestrated by another Nigerian national.
