Sri Lanka, Aug. 31 -- Excavations at the Chemmani mass grave in Jaffna have so far uncovered skeletal remains belonging to 197 individuals.

The exhumation process began in May this year under orders from the Jaffna Magistrate's Court and has been carried out in several phases.

Of the remains recovered, 181 sets have already been fully exhumed.

The fifth phase of the excavations is scheduled to begin on 7 September, continuing the effort to recover and document the human remains at the Chemmani site.
