Sri Lanka, April 10 -- As the Sinhala and Tamil New Year approaches, the traditional sweets table continues to hold a prominent place in celebrations. However, a shift is evident this year, with more consumers opting to order New Year sweets online, where prices have also seen a noticeable increase.
Kevum, a staple of the festive table, is now sold online for between Rs. 100 and Rs. 120 each. Asmi is priced at Rs. 170, Peni Walalu are available for Rs. 100, and Kokia ranges between Rs. 40 and Rs. 60 per piece. Supermarkets have also introduced special sweet packages priced between Rs. 2,000 and Rs. 5,000.
