Sri lanka, Nov. 4 -- Cabinet approval was granted to purchase 100 motorcycles with an engine capacity of 125cc and 50 three-wheelers for the Special Task Force (STF).

Minister of Public Security and Parliamentary Affairs Ananda Wijepala presented the proposal.

The Special Task Force operates 76 main camps, 23 sub-camps, and 14 special units covering the entire island.

It was noted that about 90% of the currently available 314 motorcycles used by the STF for its duties are over 10 years old, resulting in frequent mechanical failures.

This equipment procurement aims to enable the STF to efficiently and effectively carry out duties such as combating drug addiction and suppressing organized criminal gangs.
