Sri Lanka, Dec. 23 -- M.G. Hemachandra, a development specialist, assumed duties as the new Chairman of the Urban Development Authority (UDA).

The appointment took place on December 20, in the presence of Deputy Minister of Urban Development Eranga Gunasekara and senior officials. Hemachandra brings extensive experience to the role, having served as a senior specialist and head of loan projects at the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in Sri Lanka for a long period.

His professional background includes previous roles at the National Water Supply and Drainage Board and the Central Engineering Consultancy Bureau (CECB). Additionally, he currently serves as a Vice President of the Institution of Engineers Sri Lanka (IESL). Hold...
