Sri Lanka, June 27 -- From July 1, Sri Lankans travelling abroad for the first time for non-domestic jobs must register their employment contract with the Sri Lankan embassy in the respective country.

This new rule, introduced by the Foreign Employment Bureau, applies to 13 countries, including, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, Oman, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Maldives, Malaysia, Singapore, South Korea, and the UAE.

To complete the process, workers must submit either a passport showing their profession or documents proving their job role.

The move is aimed at ensuring worker safety and preventing exploitation.
