Sri Lanka, Sept. 4 -- The Ministry of Health has announced that state-of-the-art infectious waste incinerators will be established at 15 government hospitals across Sri Lanka.

This initiative is part of the Infectious Waste Management Improvement Project, which is funded by a Euro503 million grant from the Japanese government and citizens through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

Incinerators have been installed at a number of locations, including the teaching hospitals in Ratnapura and Kurunegala, district hospitals in Embilipitiya, Avissawella, Hambantota, Mannar, and Kilinochchi, and base hospitals in Rikillagaskada, Mahiyanganaya, Puttalam, Meerigama, Medirigiriya, and Welikanda, as well as the divisional hospital i...
