Sri Lanka, April 22 -- Kamal Amarasinghe, a Special Grade Officer in the Sri Lanka Administrative Service officially took over as the new Commissioner General of the Department of Motor Traffic this morning.

He has previously worked as the Secretary to the Ministry of Roads and Transport in the Northwestern Provincial Council, the Secretary to the Governor of the Northwestern Province and as an Additional Secretary at the Ministry of Buddha Sasana and Northwestern Development.

This appointment comes after the resignation of the former Commissioner General, Nishantha Anuruddha Weerasinghe.
