Sri Lanka, Aug. 29 -- The government has decided to submit regulations to Parliament that outline the methodology for defining the Maximum Retail Price (MRP) of pharmaceutical products.
The regulations fall under the National Medicines Regulatory Authority Act, No. 2 of 2025.
Speaking at the weekly Cabinet press briefing, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism Vijitha Herath said the regulations introduce a framework to determine the highest permissible price limits based on the dosage and severity of specific drugs or categories.
He added that the regulations were officially published in the Extraordinary Gazette No. 2446/34 on 21 July 2025.
