Sri Lanka, March 4 -- The Cabinet of Ministers has approved the appointment of retired Major General Mr. Sampath Kotuwegoda as the new Director General of the Disaster Management Centre, effective from 07 March 2025.

This decision follows the conclusion of the contract period of the current Director General, retired Major General Mr. H. M. U. Herath. Mr. Kotuwegoda will assume the role for a one-year term, as per the resolution presented by His Excellency the President, who also serves as the Minister of Defense.
