Srilanka, Dec. 9 -- A new Bailey bridge, supplied with support from the Government of India, is being installed to replace the Iranawila bridge that was destroyed in the Mahawa Divisional Secretariat area, marking a key step in restoring vital transport links disrupted by recent severe weather.
The temporary modular bridge is being constructed by the Road Development Authority, with technical and logistical assistance from the Indian Army.
Transport, Highways and Urban Development Minister Bimal Rathnayake visited the site yesterday (08) to monitor progress.
