Sri Lanka, May 27 -- The Sri Lanka Navy has been instructed to take all necessary measures to prevent Indian fishermen from entering Sri Lankan waters to poach, and to curb drug trafficking disguised as fishing activities.

These instructions were given during a discussion chaired by the Minister of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Development, Ramalingam Chandrasekar, held at the Parliament complex.

The Commander of the Navy also participated in this meeting.

The discussion also covered other issues, including land disputes, problems at fisheries harbours, illegal fishing using prohibited equipment, drug trafficking, and the unauthorised entry of Indian fishermen into Sri Lankan waters.
