Sri Lanka, Jan. 6 -- Former United National Party Member of Parliament Navin Dissanayake was appointed as the party's new Vice Chairman.

This appointment coincides with the reorganisation of party positions for the year 2026 and was executed in accordance with Article 8.1.1(c) of the party constitution.

The Party Working Committee recommended Dissanayake for the post, and the appointment took effect on January 3, 2026.

A letter confirming the position was sent by UNP Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe, stating that Dissanayake functions as a member of the Working Committee in compliance with the party constitution.
