Sri Lanka, Sept. 5 -- A special nationwide police operation to combat crime and drug-related activities has led to the arrest of 724 individuals on suspicion of various offences.

According to the Police Media Division, 26 of those arrested were directly identified as individuals involved in serious crimes.

The operation, which took place yesterday (4), also resulted in the arrest of 47 drunk drivers and nine people for reckless driving.
