Sri Lanka, July 21 -- A special nationwide operation to apprehend individuals involved in drugs and crime saw 21,132 people screened yesterday (20).

During this expansive operation, 7,922 vehicles and 6,545 motorcycles were also inspected.

Authorities seized five firearms, including one of foreign manufacture.

A total of 1,241 individuals were arrested for drug-related offences, including illicit alcohol.

The seizures included 254,679 milligrams of "Ice" (crystal methamphetamine), 112,567 milligrams of heroin, and 3,738,356 milligrams of cannabis.
