Sri Lanka, June 17 -- The National Secretariat for Elders has introduced a WhatsApp number for reporting information about neglected elderly individuals who require assistance, particularly those overlooked by their children.

Information regarding such incidents can now be submitted to the WhatsApp number 070 789 88 89.

This initiative by the National Secretariat for Elders coincides with June 15th, which is designated by the United Nations General Assembly as "World Elder Abuse Awareness Day" each year.
