Sri Lanka, May 18 -- Today (18) marks the 16th anniversary of Sri Lanka's triumph over the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE), which plagued the nation for three decades.The Patriotic National Front is urging all citizens to hoist the national flag at their homes and pay homage to those who sacrificed and dedicated their lives for this victory.The defeat of the LTTE and the end of the war were marked on May 18th, 2009, with the killing of LTTE leader Velupillai Prabhakaran near the Nandikadal lagoon in Puthukkudiyiruppu.This brought an end to over three decades of conflict that engulfed not only the North and East, but the entire country.The 16th Remembrance Day Ceremony, honouring the valiant soldiers who contributed to this victory...
