Sri Lanka, Aug. 25 -- Sri Lanka PodujanaPeramuna (SLPP) MP Namal Rajapaksa yesterday (24) accused the government of engaging in political revenge to cover up its failures and attempting to dismantle state machinery.

Addressing the media, Rajapaksa claimed that the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) is now trying to achieve what it failed to do during the 1988-89 insurrections: undermine the state within a democratic framework.

He stated that his party has consistently highlighted the issue of political victimization and alleged that the current administration is once again demonstrating its incompetence.
