Sri Lanka, July 13 -- The mother of Ishara Sewwandi, a key suspect in the murder of organised crime figure Ganemulla Sanjeewa, has died.

She passed away after being admitted to the Colombo National Hospital from prison due to a heart attack.

Ishara Sewwandi's mother and brother were previously arrested by police on charges of aiding and abetting in the Ganemulla Sanjeewa murder.

They were later remanded by the court. Ishara Sewwandi, who faces murder charges, has not yet been arrested.
