Sri Lanka, May 8 -- 15 Sri Lankan nationals who were rescued after being trafficked and forcibly employed in cybercrime centres in Myawaddy, Myanmar, were repatriated to Sri Lanka on May 7.
In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism said that the rescue was carried out in close coordination with the Sri Lanka Missions in Myanmar and Thailand, and with the cooperation of the Governments of Myanmar and Thailand.
The International Organisation for Migration (IOM) in Thailand had facilitated international air travel and internal transportation for the group, and several international non-governmental organisations operating in Myanmar had provided welfare support throughout the process, the Ministry said...
