Sri Lanka, June 16 -- The Department of Meteorology has issued a weather advisory predicting moderate to heavy rainfall, exceeding 50 mm, in certain areas of the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces, as well as in the Nuwara Eliya, Kandy, Galle, and Matara districts.

The Northern Province and Anuradhapura district can expect a few showers.

Strong winds, gusting between 40 and 50 kmph, are anticipated at times over the western slopes of the Central Hills, and across the Northern, North Central, Western, Sabaragamuwa, Southern, and North Western provinces, including the Trincomalee district.

The Department urges the public to take necessary precautions to minimise potential hazards from strong winds.
