Sri Lanka, May 1 -- The Ministry of Education has launched a preliminary investigation into the death of a 23-year-old second-year student of the University of Sabaragamuwa, reportedly following a ragging incident on campus.
In a statement issued today, the Ministry said all necessary measures will be taken based on the findings of the inquiry.
It added that strict legal action will be taken against anyone found responsible.
The Ministry urged the public to refrain from sharing unverified or sensitive information on the incident online.
Meanwhile, another student at the university has lodged a complaint with the police, alleging that the ragging led to his colleague's death.
