Sri Lanka, Aug. 27 -- Sri Lanka's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Vijitha Herath, has affirmed that there has been no official alteration to the ownership of Kachchatheevu Island.

Speaking at a press briefing, Mr Herath responded to recent comments made by Indian actor and politician, Thalapathy Vijay, stating that the island is, and will remain, Sri Lankan territory.

The minister characterised Vijay's remarks as typical political rhetoric during an election campaign in South India.
