Sri Lanka, June 28 -- The Minister of Public Security, Ananda Wijepala, has criticised wildlife officials for their slow response to wild elephant incursions.

The minister's comments came yesterday (27), during a meeting of the committee appointed to investigate the wild elephant issue in the Kurunegala District.

Wijepala stated that there was no point in committee meetings if decisions could not be implemented.

The committee was formed to address the significant impact of wild elephants on many areas within the Kurunegala District.
