Sri Lanka, May 2 -- Forty acres of land previously held by security forces in Jaffna have been returned to civilian ownership.

The relevant documents were handed over yesterday by Jaffna Security Forces Commander Major General Manada Yahampath to Jaffna District Secretary M. Pradeepan.

The released land includes 20 acres in the Wasavilan division of the Valikamam North Divisional Secretariat, 15 acres in Mankollai village, and 5 acres in the Jaffna-Katkovalam area.

The Jaffna District Secretariat has stated that steps will be taken to quickly release the land to its original owners.
